Just so everyone knows this is more like a journal for us,
but we’re glad you’ve come to read and enjoy our adventures with us.
Day One
Denton, Texas to Denver, Colorado
We started our drive around 10 (two hours later than Mike
wanted (but that’s totally ok because im awesome like that)). We drove from
Denton to Denver, that’s in Corolado. This drive was only bearable (get it….BEARable…..Jess
is HIlarioUS!!!!!!!!!!) because of our Audiobook, Catching Fire (part of the
Hunger games series, by Suzanne Collins, i'm not sure who publishes it but you
get the point, go buy it, now!) When we arrived to our hotel or motel, upon
later review, we were greeted with a Boy Georgeish woman…at least we’re pretty
sure she was a woman, counting the cash register and a very skinny man who
greeted us by saying in an incredibly squeaky impish voice, “what do you want”?
Needless to say, I was a little taken back and wondered what the motel had in
store for us as we continued to our room. Boy George woman, as we called her,
was 8 feet tall but 3 ½ feet of that was a bangs waterfall that swooped so
lovingly over the back of her probably balding head (Jess would just call it a
super mullet, it was much more significant than that) . She was griping at the
man telling him they were “SHORT, WAY SHORT” on their drawer. The smell…how can I describe the
smell....imagine smoke and mold mixed with rotten food. The carpets were
stained with I’m not sure what (nor do I want to find out). When we got to our
room, the smell was only concentrated with more stains on the carpet and old
crusty duct tape holding the rubber molding to the wall. We did fall asleep out
of pure exhaustion and as we took a shower the next morning, I won’t put what
actually was there, but imagine something revolting that was stuck to the
ceiling of the shower (luckily Jess couldn’t see it because she hadn’t put in
her contacts yet, twas nashty). I refused to even touch my bare feet to the
floor and we packed up as soon as we could. We went downstairs to have
breakfast, hoping there was fruit of some sort and finding no such luck. There
we had to turn in a breakfast coupon…yes I said coupon, to a woman and found
bread for toasting and boxed donuts. We are pretty sure one of the other guests
that was “enjoying” the meal was a lady of the night. She got more than a plate
full of the boxed donuts and left to return back to her “sleeping”
quarters. After all of that we left what
could be known as one of the most disgusting hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
PS: We went to Cadillac Ranch. It was SUPER windy and super cool. Just a bunch of Cadillacs in the ground...with spray paint cans as far as the eye can see.

i've been there! (and possibly the same motel too)
Niiiice. I see you...sporting the A&A shirt.
Jess, I'm so sorry if you have stayed at that motel! Good for a story though.
Amanda, the A&A shirt is good for a road trip because of the looseness. I was wondering who was going to comment on it first. I can just picture Robin saying, "nice shirt...hehehehe."
